Provincial Volunteer Opportunities

Calling all Guiders who are passionate about Guiding! Here is your chance to make a difference to BC Girl Guides at the provincial level! We have several opportunities and hope that you might nominate yourself or someone you know who might fit the descriptions below to join the BC Council in one of our vacancies.

BC Property Committee

The Committee administers Real Property Policy & Procedures, Capital Grants, other property grants and supports Property Committees and their Councils, as directed by BC Council and the National Strategic Plan. BC Properties range from big to small, from the Provincial Guide House, local Guide halls to campsites.

The Property Committee is looking for new members to add to our team.

  1. We are looking for a person with strong organization and administrative skills to support the Property Grants and large project processes. This person collects applications, oversees and tracks the review/approval process, follows up to receive reports and processes payment requests upon completion. For the Capital grants and large projects, there is one primary application window per year in August/September, for projects for the next fiscal year, which are presented at the September (for large projects) or November (for smaller projects) BC Council meetings for project approval, and a further application window in April for small projects (if funding is still available) for presentation to the May BC Council meeting. For Property Inspection/Arborist, grants application are accepted throughout the year for approval through the Property Committee.
  2. If you have experience in insurance, property management, horticulture, building trades, or are just interested in our properties and are willing to share your experience, we would like to hear from you!

Communication within the committee is by email, and remote meetings when required. Members also support and attend periodic workshops and learning opportunities when available.

If you are interested in supporting the committees who support Girl Guide properties where girls get to experience Guiding, please consider joining us, and contact bc-propertymgmt@girlguides.ca! Experience is not necessary, enthusiasm is welcomed!
