Check-in and check-out times

Check-in is from 3PM; if you are going to be later than 7PM checking in, please call Andrew at (604) 852-4158.

Orientations

Any group staying at Camp McLanlin must have a representative per site booked and receive camp orientation. Linda Love will be in contact with the unit to organize an orientation session. That may be just a phone call for some, or it may include an onsite orientation. The representative must be in attendance for the duration of their camp and must be checked in and out by the Caretaker or their designate. Upon arrival at camp, an accurate participants list must be presented to the caretaker, including any resource people coming up for the day.

An orientation of Camp McLanlin will be conducted within two weeks prior to camp. The representative must be in attendance for the duration of camp and must be available for check-in and check-out.

Crests

Crest orders can be placed by sending the Camp McLanlin Crest Request form (Excel) to btulloch1@shaw.ca or campmacbooking@fraserskiesgirlguides.co. at least 48 hours prior to camp. They will be ready at check-in and an invoice will be sent after camp.

Equipment available to use

Please arrange equipment with Andrew upon check-in at camp.

Archery

Bows and arrows can be signed out from the caretaker upon arrival or during your stay at the camp. The Archery range is situated just past the “barn” on your way from Robin’s Roost going toward Marion’s Manor. *If you are unfamiliar with Archery, we suggest you do some research before going to camp. The camp caretakers will give you information on how to handle the equipment safely, but it is up to you to supervise the girls and provide guidance in the actual game of Archery.

Bocce Ball Sets

Borrow our camp Bocce set and let the girls loose on the flat grassy areas, a classic game all can play!

Frisbee Golf

Borrow the Frisbees from the caretakers and set up the ‘golf’ tees, lots of excitement, lots of fun!

Gadget Bamboo

Enough bamboo sticks to build a fortress, or many individual large gadgets! Bring your string and rope to lash them into magnificent creations! Sticks are stores on the side of the barn for easy access.

Light Horseshoes

Suitable for younger children.

Flags

Borrow a real Flag Kit from caretakers, comes with Canadian Flag, and instructions/history on flag raising ceremonies for small and large groups. Please remember to return the flag in clean and dry condition or allow caretaker to hang to dry upon return of Flag Kit.

Camp Mac Challenge

Can you find all the answers to these sights and places all around the campsite? Multiple challenges available.

Volleyball / Badminton Net (Portable)

As it is a pop-together frame, it takes 2 people 5 minutes to put up and take down. Can be used on anywhere there is flat ground. Frames to be wiped with a dry cloth and the net folded up properly. Could be used for Volleyball or Badminton - additional equipment provided.

Slackline

Set up at the entrance to the camp, at the side of the road by the trees. Users should check the slackline prior to use. One person (up to 350 lbs) at a time. Wipe slackline with a dry cloth after use. Use caution during wet weather.

Booking terms and conditions

Payments and cancellations

Bookings fees are non-refundable, non-deductible, and non-transferable. Units are responsible for the booking fee even in the event of cancellation, unless another group can be found to take over the booking.

If cancellation is less than 30 days, your group is still responsible to pay the minimum fee for each site booked. This fee will be refunded if the site is able to be re-booked by another group. In cases of extreme weather, where there is a weather advisory to stay off the roads, if a unit cancels its booking with less than the required 30 days’ notice, then that unit may rebook, depending on availability, within 1 year of the cancelled booking. The booking and minimum fee may be applied to the new camp date.

In rare cases, Camp McLanlin may have to cancel a booking due to emergency service work. In this case only, the booking and minimum fee will be refunded.

The booking fee will be transferred from your unit bank account on the first Friday after you receive your booking confirmation. The rental fee owing will be transferred the first Friday after camp.

Please arrange for the arriving guider bring this list. Please inform Andrew of any changes (departures or arrivals) to who is attending camp over the weekend.

Please look for any damaged or missing items when checking in and report them to the caretaker immediately or there is a possibility that your unit will be charged.
