Grassroots Huddle, AB

This past week the Girls First team was on the road again. We headed to "Grassroots Huddle", an impeccably organized weekend conference located at Camp He Ho Ha just outside of Edmonton. It was attended by Girls, Area Commissioners, District Commissioners and Guiders from across Alberta, Yukon and NWT. It was an opportunity for us to update these passionate members on the new program, structure and technology platform, and also to hear their MANY recommendations, questions, concerns and tips as we continue in the building of Girls First.

We focused on two main aspects: the program content and structure, and the technology platform through which it will be delivered. A big thank you to our Ranger (Keeley!) and volunteer (Dana!) who took the prototype out for a test drive and led the demo for the group.

We received great feedback, along with some recommendations to explore aspects which we hadn't yet considered. Suggestions that will help with usability, Guider administrative duties, and meeting planning not just for Guiders, but Girls as well – all ensuring Girls First will truly be powered by our membership. Scroll down to see some of their comments. We are so appreciative of the openness and honesty we are receiving – thank you!

Areas of Programming to be Announced

We look forward to announcing the Areas of Programming in October's update, and the amazing suggestions we know members across the country will bring forward as our provincial consultations continue throughout the fall.

What our members are saying:

AJ is excited... and cautiously optimistic!

Dana looks forward to the new program being more relevant to Girls today.

Deb reminds us to stay agile and open to the process.

Keeley was so excited about her run through with the technology that she sent us this on her bus ride home.
