Girl Greatness Awards
Girls in Guiding do amazing things every day. They leap into action, overcome obstacles, come up with brilliant ideas, and pretty much add a little bit of awesomeness to the world around them.
Girl Guides of Canada's Girl Greatness Awards are all about applauding girl members who accomplish great things in their lives and in their communities. The awards recognize one girl per branch who has excelled in one of the following award categories:

Girl members are encouraged to nominate a fellow girl member or themselves for an award.
Each of the 20 Girl Greatness Award recipients will receive an award pin and a certificate. All girls who are nominated will receive a certificate of recognition.

Nomination Criteria and Awards Requirements
- Nominees must be a girl member.
- Only girl members can submit a nomination – either nominating themselves or another girl member.
- If you are under 14, please inform your parents/guardians of your nomination of either yourself or another girl member. If the person you are nominating is over 14, please inform the girl herself.
- You may only nominate another girl one time. You may not nominate her multiple times in different categories.
- Submissions that are made by an adult or that are incomplete will be disqualified.
- Finalists will be selected in each category based on merit and in consideration of age appropriateness.
- Award recipients will be chosen by a selection committee made up of girl and adult members from across Canada.
- By submitting a nomination you permit GGC, in their sole discretion, to use the submission or excerpts of the submission, along with the nominee's first name and residence (city or province) and photo in whatever manner desired, without compensation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I nominate more than one girl?
A: Yes. You can nominate as many girl members as you would like. Each nomination needs to be done with a separate on-line submission.
Q: Can I nominate the same girl in multiple categories?
A: No. You may only nominate a girl once.
Q: Can Guiders, adult members or parents make nominations?
A: No. Nominations can only be made by girl members. A nomination made by an adult with be disqualified.
Q: How can a Guider, adult member or parent help a girl submit a nomination?
A: Adults can help girls by getting them thinking and talking about the different categories and what confidence, courage, resourcefulness and making a difference in the world means. Submissions should always be in the words and voice of the girl, but these discussions can assist in understanding and focusing their ideas. Younger girls may need help with typing and completing their submission.
Q: I'm concerned about my daughter's privacy. Can someone nominate my daughter without my knowledge?
A: A nomination must have the nominee's permission and attest that the parent of the nominee, or the nominee herself if over the age of 14, is aware of the nomination before completing their submission. If a nominee becomes an award recipient, the recipient (ages 14 and older) or her parents (of girls under 14) will be contacted to ensure their consent for online posting.
Q: I am having technical difficulties with the nomination form. Who should I contact?
Q: Several of us worked together on a project. Can we submit a nomination for our unit?
A: No. The Girl Greatness Awards are for individual achievement. The nomination must name only one person.
Q: Can I submit my nomination in French?
A: Yes. A submission can be made in French. A French application is also available by selecting 'Français' in the top right corner of the application log in page.
Q: How are the recipients of the Girl Greatness Awards selected?
A: A selection committee made up of girl and adult members across the country will review submissions and select a recipient for each branch and category based on how well the nominee reflects the characteristics and attributes of that award.
Q: How can I be part of the selection committee?
A: Please email firstname.lastname@example.org, and include your name, iMIS number and the branch you work most with/participate in. Minimum time requirement will be 4 hours.

Confidence - a feeling or belief that you can do something well or succeed at something; a feeling or belief that someone or something is good or has the ability to succeed at something.
Resourcefulness - able to deal well with new or difficult situations and to find solutions to problems.
Courage – being able to do something that you know is difficult.
Making a difference - to cause a change; to be important in some way; to do something that is important; to do something that helps people or makes the world a better place.
