There’s nothing like a Guiding trip to enable girls to see the world – and themselves – in a whole new way. Girl Guides of Canada’s nationally-sponsored travel experiences offer girls the chance to increase their understanding of global issues, explore new cultures and communities, and develop a sense of belonging to the global sisterhood of Guiding.

In order to provide as many members as possible with the opportunity to participate in nationally-sponsored trips, members are eligible to partake in one domestic and one international trip as follows:

  • Once as a girl
  • Once as a Guider
  • Once as an adult participating in a WAGGGS event or GGC determined endorsed event
  • In a designated role as determined by the Board, i.e.: Chief Commissioner, International Commissioner, CEO, etc.

  • Upon acceptance, a girl member may fundraise for her trip. Please refer to GGC’s fundraising guidelines which are available on Member Zone (ask your Guider to help you access these). As per the fundraising policy, all girl members are expected to pay 10% of the trip cost unless there is financial need.
  • Girl applicants may be eligible for travel grants from her province, area, unit, etc. It is recommended that she contact her council to inquire about this potential funding.
  • For adult members, the cost of the trip is covered through the Jean Youngson Memorial Bequest to the Canadian World Friendship Fund (CWFF).
  • Fundraising by adult members is not permitted as per GGC’s fundraising policy
