Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada holds two nationwide cookie fundraising campaigns per year: our chocolatey mint cookie campaign in the fall and our classic cookie campaign in the spring. Funds raised through these campaigns are crucial to the day-to-day operation of Girl Guides of Canada on a local, provincial and national level. As a not-for-profit organization, Girl Guides of Canada requires funds in order to develop quality program materials, provide training and support to all Guide Leaders and to maintain, operate and staff our provincial camps and offices. As one of our major sources of funding, cookie revenue also allows us to keep our registration fees to a minimum.
In addition to raising funds for Guiding programs, cookie selling allows girls to have fun while learning and practicing useful life skills such as: planning and goal setting, communication and sales, safety awareness, problem-solving and decision making, money and time management, teamwork, courtesy, customer service and, most importantly, community involvement. Girls may also challenge themselves by setting personal cookie-selling goals that will help them to recognize the rewards of hard work and dedication. Quebec Council units are responsible to order a minimum of two cases per registered girl at each cookie campaign.
