Young Women’s World Forum 2011


WHEN?

March 19-26, 2011
Personal travel before/after event (optional)

WHERE?

Simultaneously at each of our World Centres, Sangam in Pune, India, Our Chalet in Adelboden, Switzerland, Pax Lodge in London, UK and Our Cabaña in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

Successful applicants will be assigned to a World Centre based on the selection process at WAGGGS.

WHO?

Two (2) Adult Members ages 20-30
***Workshops will be conducted in two languages. As a result all applicants must be bilingual in either English/French or English/Spanish***

Note:  In order that as many Members as possible have the opportunity to participate in nationally sponsored international events, Members selected may participate in these events as follows:

  • Once as a girl
  • Once as a adult

WHAT?

The Young Women’s World Forum (YWWF), is part of a series of events addressing the global centenary celebrations of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting and the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Friendship Session 2011 - Our Cabaña, World Centre, Mexico


WHEN?

Overall Dates: July 17 – July 30, 2011
Event Dates: July 21 – July 29, 2011

WHO?

  • Eight girls aged 13 – 15 years of age as of July 17, 2011
  • Two Guiders

*In order to qualify, participants must be physically fit and be active Members of Girl Guides of Canada.

Note:  In order that as many Members as possible have the opportunity to participate in nationally sponsored international events, Members selected may participate as follows:

  • Once as a girl
  • Once as a young adult (the young adult category is usually between the ages of 18 and 25, but may vary)
  • Once as an adult

WHAT?

Experience international friendship, participate in WAGGGS activities and workshops, volunteer in a service project with the local community, go on amazing sightseeing trips to archaeological sites, and so much more.

Swiss Experience 2011 - Our Chalet, World Centre, Switzerland


WHEN?

Overall Dates: July 31 – August 13, 2011
Event Dates: August 4 – August 12, 2011

WHO?

  • Eight girls aged 15 - 17 years as of July 31, 2011
  • Two Guiders

WHAT?

A Summer Event at Our Chalet is an experience you will never forget! This week-long session offers girls a chance to challenge themselves in a beautiful environment while meeting new people and experiencing the unique culture of Switzerland. Activities include hiking, rappelling, climbing, water sports and day excursions in Switzerland.

Honduras Adventure 2011


WHEN?

Overall Dates: July 31 – August 15, 2011
Event dates: August 1 – August 14, 2011

WHO?

  • Ten girls aged 13 - 17 years of age as of July 31, 2011
  • Two Guiders

(Note:  Guiders will be working with facilitators from the youth organization Canada World Youth who will be responsible for trip logistics. Guiders and Canada World Youth facilitators will be collaborating on programming.)

WHAT?

Girl Guides of Canada, in partnership with Canada World Youth, a world leader in the development of international educational programs for youth, is offering an amazing opportunity for Members to participate in an exciting international development adventure to Honduras. Participants will develop their leadership skills as they work with communities on local development projects, participate in Honduran traditions and gain hands-on understanding of local issues. Build relationships with host families, meet friends from the Honduras Guiding Association and much, much more.
