Golf and Guiding
Are you looking for new and exciting events to add to your Guiding program? Maybe you are interested in sharing your passion for golf with girls in Guiding? If so, we've got a great way to help you get girls interested in golf or at least to give them the opportunity to learn the game.
The Royal Canadian Golf Association's Future Links Girls' Club program is designed to introduce girls between the ages of 7 and 18 to golf and to encourage them to have fun with the sport.
We have five well-established girls' clubs through Guiding, in British Columbia (Whiterock & Saanichton), Alberta (Calgary & Cold Lake), Ontario (Burlington).
About the CN Future Links Girls' Club
CN Future Links Girls' Club is a developmental golf program designed for girls 7-18 years of age. As members, girls will develop skills, attitudes and positive images of themselves that will help them as athletes on the golf course, encouraging both self-esteem and a life-long love of the game.
The Future Links Girls' Club was developed to encourage more girls to take up the game and aims not only to attract girls to the game, but to keep them coming back. Future Links Girls' Club has been partnered with the Girl Guides of Canada since 2003, working together to provide new and exciting programming for young girls in Guiding. Guide leaders are just the volunteers Future Links Girls' Club is looking for.
How you can get involved
All you need to begin your very own Girls' Club:
- 10 girls (minimum)
- a site leader (Guide leader)
- access to a golf course/driving range
- a golf professional - we can certainly arrange to help you find one in your area
- five days during the year that you are able to organize a golf "event", which could include a lesson on the driving range, a mini-putt challenge or even a mother/daughter golf outing.
The Girls’ Club program is a FREE program to all participants. New site locations are subject to an annual $15.00 registration fee and will receive two Girls’ Club branded site signs. You will also receive a detailed Girls’ Club site leader manual that clearly outlines how to run the Girls’ Club program.
You also have the option to purchase additional Girls’ Club branded materials such as hats, bag tags, tee paks and RCGA Easy Rule Book & Etiquette guides if you wish to enhance the participants Girls’ Club experience. All registered participants will also have access to the ‘members only’ section of the CN Future Links website, receive monthly e-newsletters and e-Golf Canada magazine and much more!
Site Leaders can determine the cost of each of their activities. The structure of the club is completely up to the Site Leader and the girls. Site leaders are also responsible for securing facility access and a CPGA professional (the RCGA can certainly help you find a public golf facility and CPGA professional in your area).
Lastly, grant funding ranging from $250 - $500 can also be applied for through the RCGA to help get your new site location up and running. The grant funding can be used to offset any end user costs to the site leader or participants for things such as facility access and CPGA professional fees. Grant funding must be applied for annually and is subject to approval by the RCGA. Please call the RCGA (1-800-263-0009 x333) for more information on this area.
